Stephanie Vaquer marked her non-broadcasted WWE debut with a live event at the Mexico City stage, succeeding a sudden departure from CMLL a week ago. Vaquer triumphed over Isla Dawn in her initial two non-televised WWE bouts.
During a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, ex-AEW Women’s World Champion, Thunder Rosa gave insight on Vaquer’s choice to align with WWE.
Rosa suggested against depicting Vaquer’s exit from CMLL in an unfavorable light, given that the exact details behind this choice remain unclear.
Rosa articulated, “At the culmination of the day, her aspiration was to join WWE. That was her dream. When the opportunity presented itself, she seized it, and now she’s part of the WWE fraternity. Nothing can alter this. Perhaps the method employed by the other company [WWE] to sign her wasn’t quite right, which seems to be an additional critique they’re encountering. Nonetheless, it was her prerogative to sign the contract with WWE.”
Vaquer garnered the attention of WWE after she dropped the NJPW Strong Women’s Title to Mercedes Mone at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024 event.
