AEW’s Thunder Rosa could not have been happier for Zelina Vega to be able to represent her Puerto Rican heritage at the recent WWE Backlash 2023 pay-per-view event.
At WWE’s first pay-view-event in Puerto Rico since January 2005, Vega unsuccessfully challenged SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley.
Speaking on a recent episode of “Busted Open Radio,” Rosa was thrilled that Vega was able to have such an important moment to represent her heritage at the event. She said,
“When Zelina Vega came out I really cried. People have been able to represent their countries and represent their cultures in such a positive way… It was such a beautiful moment.
“Every time I watch it I cry. I don’t know if I will ever get to do something as big as that.”
Despite Vega losing to Ripley in Puerto Rico, Rosa was pleased for the LWO member, adding that “she won even more than that.”
Thunder Rosa made her return to AEW television during this week’s episode of Dynamite and was seen entering the office of Tony Khan.
