The Young Bucks’ Tribute To Terry Funk & Bray Wyatt, Matt Hardy On Edge’s Potential AEW Future

The Young Bucks paid tribute to Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) on episode 362 of ‘Being The Elite’ as the Jackson brothers dedicated their AEW All In 2023 performances to the two late wrestlers.

Episode 362 of ‘Being The Elite’ saw Nick and Matt Jackson react to the passings of Funk and Wyatt late last week. Matt said,

“It’s been a rough 48 hours. Wednesday, we lost Terry Funk. That destroyed me. One of my all-time favorites. We were on the plane with a lot of the boys from Atlanta to London, and Nick whispers to me, and I didn’t want to believe it at first, he says, ‘Bray Wyatt passed.’ I said, ‘What?’ You never believe it when you first hear it… Just breaks my heart. Just makes you think about everything, your own mortality. I just feel for his family. I said a prayer for him, I said a prayer for him. I said a prayer for The Funker. It’s awful, awful news to have to hear. We are here in London now, and All In weekend.”

Nick and Matt then said they would dedicate the weekend to Funk and Wyatt.

The Young Bucks unsuccessfully challenged FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Sunday’s All In 2023 pay-per-view event at Wembley Stadium in London.

Meanwhile, Matt Hardy addressed the rumors of Edge potentially signing with AEW on his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast.

Hardy didn’t give much credence to the idea that Edge would actually retire now that he is through with the final match on his existing WWE contract.

On what Edge still has to offer after WWE: “If he isn’t going to re-sign or re-up with WWE, I think he has more left in him. I could see him coming to AEW, especially on a lighter schedule, maybe getting a little more say in … what you do. I could see that happening. … I still think there’s a possibility he could still return to WWE. I wouldn’t rule that out, either.”

On the effect if Edge does change companies in favor of AEW: “I think to have Edge, who is … a WWE lifer, which most people figured and assume, and a guy who was a multiple-time world heavyweight champion, a guy who accomplished all these firsts, had a stellar career, [has] done all these amazing things, did this incredible comeback — it would be a huge deal to AEW. It is good for the healthiness of pro wrestling because you have a major star leaving WWE and choosing AEW instead.”

On the characteristics of Edge as a wrestler: “[Edge’s] work ethic … speaks volumes about him as a person, as a performer. Obviously I worked with him many, many times. We would really think about things in detail, and we would go out and try and present a match that was going to steal the show, you know? And I know he thought like that as well. … Much like me, he loves professional wrestling. If he can do it, and he feels like he can do it on a very high level, I think he still wants to do it.”
