The Young Bucks endured a remarkably tough challenge at AEW’s special “Road Rager” edition of Dynamite, and they retained the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Of course, they had a lot of help in doing so.

On Wednesday night, Matt and Nick Jackson faced Eddie Kingston and Penta El Zero Miedo in a street fight for the titles. The champions decided to do thir best “Billy Kidman” impression by wearing jean shorts to the ring.

With the ringside presence of Brandon Cutler, the Bucks certainly had an advantage on Wednesday. The interference of The Good Brothers gave them the upper hand later in the match, but “The Elite Hunter” Frankie Kazarian valiantly tried to level the playing field by attacking the three interlopers.

As for the bout itself, it was as chaotic as one might expect. Tables, thumb tacks, and garbage can lids came into play throughout the contest. Despite the Bucks’ best efforts, Penta and Kingston essentially had the match won on at least two occasions.

First, Kingston made Matt tap out with a sleeper, but Nick shockingly hit a 450 splash on the official to prevent the champions’ defeat. Later, the challengers drilled Matt with Fear Factor and the spinning backfist, but the referee was still down. When a new one came to the ring, Nick pulled him out of the ring to break the count.

Finally, a hurricanrana onto tacks for Penta and a superkick with a mouth full of tacks for Kingston was enough to give the Young Bucks the hard-fought victory.
