During Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2023 pay-per-view event, The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega) defeated The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) by pinfall.
The Bucks put their AEW World Tag Team Title shot on the line with the added stipulation that if Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho lost, they would have to disband.
Following the loss, Matt and Nick threw a fit, and Brandon Cutler later announced that the duo would be “taking time away from wrestling.” Cutler tweeted,
“I am being told that the Young Bucks will be taking some time away from wrestling. People close to Matt and Nick’s camp are asking for privacy during this time.”
Fightful Select is reporting that the plan is for The Young Bucks to turn heel, something that’s been teased on AEW television with their recent change in attitude.
Additionally, Brandon Cutler is tentatively set to continue with The Young Bucks and turn heel as well, as well as at least one other wrestler.
Cutler’s tweet was intended to advance the heel turn. He will be acting as the mouthpiece for Matt and Nick from hereon, both on TV and social media.
The different format of Being the Elite is also meant to play into the heel turn.
