WWE COO Triple H returned on Monday’s episode of RAW to deliver some “huge” news – the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is returning.
At the start of hour two of RAW, “The Game” came out and cut a promo announcing the news. He showed off the new title belt and announced that the first champion will be crowned at the Night Of Champions 2023 pay-per-view event, which takes place on May 27th in Saudi Arabia.
Triple H revealed that while Roman Reigns is coming up on 1,000 days as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, the “Tribal Chief” negotiated himself into a spot where he doesn’t have to defend the title all that often and he doesn’t think that’s fair to the WWE Universe. Reigns will continue to hold the WWE Universal Championship and will defend the belt on whichever show he’s drafted to. As we previously reported here on eWn, Roman Reigns negotiated a new contract last year which will see him working limited dates.
The other brand will have its own WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Of course, this will mean both the WWE Universal Championship and WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be featured on separate brands and will be defended at their respective house shows.
