Terry Anderson, she’s the one that did my ring gear, my whole career. She was always trying to get me to do something with my jackets. She always wanted to make them extraordinary, which she did, but I was always super conservative. I remember going to her, I’m the American Badass at this point. I go to her because she was like, ‘Hey, what do you want to do for Survivor Series?’ I said, ‘I want to do python skin pants.’ She looks at me, deadpan, ‘No you don’t.’ ‘They will be badass. Think about it. Snakeskin pants.’ ‘Mark, no.’ ‘Are you kidding me?’ I thought she would love the idea. ‘You’re too big. They will look ridiculous.’ ‘Noooo, this is going to be the absolute coolest look the American Badass has ever presented.’ ‘No, Mark, it’s not.’ She tried her hardest to talk me out of those pants, and I wouldn’t hear it. Then, it got to the day of. I didn’t have any back up. When I put them on and I looked. I was like, ‘Holy shit, you’re the main event tonight against Kurt Angle and you look like you have some pants that belong to the Godfather.’ That was the one good point of having the respect of JR [Jim Ross], Michael Cole, and those guys. They were so respectful. They could have had a field day with me if they wanted it. I caught some crap that day. A couple people were like, ‘Are you going to wear those?’ That was not my best idea. Vince changed the Vince when he saw those pants [laughs]. ‘There’s no way that can be my World Champion.’

The Undertaker, one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling history, recently reflected on a decision he made during WWE Survivor Series 2000. In a recent episode of his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker discussed his choice to wear snakeskin pants for the event.

During his career, The Undertaker’s ring gear was designed by Terry Anderson, who always tried to make his jackets extraordinary. However, The Undertaker admitted that he was always conservative when it came to his attire. But during his American Badass phase, he decided to take a risk and suggested wearing python skin pants for Survivor Series.

To his surprise, Anderson immediately shot down the idea, telling him that the pants would look ridiculous on him. Despite her objections, The Undertaker was determined to go ahead with his plan, believing that the snakeskin pants would give him a badass look.

On the day of the event, The Undertaker realized that he didn’t have any backup options if the pants turned out to be a mistake. When he finally put them on and looked at himself, he couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. He compared his appearance to someone wearing pants that belonged to The Godfather, another WWE character known for his flamboyant style.

The Undertaker admitted that he received some teasing from his colleagues about his choice of attire. However, he was grateful for the respect shown by commentators Jim Ross and Michael Cole, who refrained from making fun of him on live television. The Undertaker also mentioned that Vince McMahon, the CEO of WWE, was not impressed when he saw the pants and believed they were not fitting for a World Champion.

Reflecting on the experience, The Undertaker acknowledged that wearing the snakeskin pants was not his best idea. He realized that Anderson was right in advising against it. Despite his initial enthusiasm, he now understands that the pants did not match his character and image as The American Badass.

The Undertaker’s story serves as a reminder that even legendary figures in the wrestling industry can make fashion mistakes. It also highlights the importance of listening to the advice of professionals who have a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t in terms of ring gear.
