The Undertaker Was “Absolutely Miserable” Filming Iconic Vignettes

While typically undertakers find themselves preparing for funerals, WWE’s The Undertaker found himself far from thrilled constructing a casket for fellow wrestler Kamala.

In the winter of 1992, The Undertaker and Kamala collided in a memorable casket match that involved a series of vignettes, portraying The Phenom building an oversized casket for Kamala, a star from Samoa.

The Undertaker shared the grueling experience of filming those sequences on a recent episode of his podcast, “Six Feet Under”. Recounting the misery, he said,

“Vignettes that followed over the course of five, six weeks featured me, The Undertaker, constructing Kamala’s casket. It was 28 degrees outside. And there I was in the blacksmith shop… you could see breath emanating from our mouths, signifying the intense cold. It was an absolutely unbearable experience.”

The wrestling legend also reminisced about an icy graveyard shoot during a January, a situation that was far from pleasant for the soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer. In his words,

“My only respite was sitting in Bruce Prichard’s car to savor the warmth and await the next shot. In those early years, staying in character amid those conditions was a challenge. Trust me, spandex isn’t the ideal material for a cemetery walk in the chilly northeast January.”

The Undertaker might have triumphed over Kamala in their casket match at Survivor Series 1992, but faced defeat at the hands of Yokozuna at the 1994 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
