Roman Reigns’ run as a heel as been the source of practically universal praise.
“The Tribal Chief” is often regarded as a weekly highlight of WWE programming. Fans, analysts and wrestling legends alike have praised Reigns’ work, and now an all-time great has also praised “The Head of the Table.”
In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, The Undertaker, also known as Mark Calaway, complimented Reigns and his remarkable (ongoing) storyline with The Usos.
“I’m so proud of where he is,” The Undertaker said. “The night of Survivor Series [in November], I went up to Roman and Jey and said, ‘This is the most compelling story that we’ve done in a while.’ And where he’s been able to take it, it’s so good. It’s not forced. Roman is hitting on all cylinders.”
“I think he’s a great heel—coldhearted, calculated,” The Undertaker stated. “There is a compelling backstory and you still feel the tension when Roman appears. Like I said, I’m really proud of him.”
The Undertaker also expressed that he wishes he could face this version of Reigns; the two stars clashed several years ago at WWE WrestleMania 33, but that version of Reigns was quite different than the one fans are seeing now.
“I wish I had the gas in the tank to work a program with him now,” said The Undertaker. “It would definitely be something special.”
