During a recent episode of his podcast “Six Feet Under,” wrestling legend The Undertaker expressed his thoughts on the WWE’s handling of the Nigerian Giant, Omos. The Undertaker touched on Omos’ potential for stardom and other related subjects.
Here are some notable extracts from the podcast:
When asked about Omos’ potential return to WWE, The Undertaker said, “I certainly hope so. He’s well-deserving of it. He’s a decent person, and you always want to see individuals like him succeed. It’s funny, I don’t remember being so small, but standing next to him, I felt like a toddler. I weigh over 300 pounds, but in comparison, I’m minuscule. I sincerely hope they find a suitable role for him.”
On the subject of Omos standing out in WWE, The Undertaker had this to say: “There’s truly nothing else that makes sense. There’s no other person on the roster that fits the bill. Regardless of how popular or talented you are… You need to be extremely careful in how you manage him. And I don’t think there are many people that he shouldn’t easily be able to crush. He’s like a modern-day Andre The Giant.”
While describing Omos as an attraction, The Undertaker noted, “There’s always a solution somewhere. But he doesn’t get taken down easily. It’s almost like there’s no plausible scenario that makes sense. Regardless of what sort of fantasy world you exist in… He doesn’t require a title. He himself is a living, breathing attraction. I can envisage him starting off as a villain, then transitioning into a highly popular, universally loved character.”
He continued, “He doesn’t need to wrestle every week. But what he can and wants to do out of passion for the sport and all that it entails, is to be a worldwide ambassador. Andre became the face of wrestling well before the likes of Hogan and others. What better person to represent your brand globally than a 7’4”, 400-pound, intelligent individual with loads of charisma.”
