The episode of WWE SmackDown that aired on March 14, 2025, from Barcelona, Spain, was filled with surprising twists and turns. Notable events included Axiom’s fight with Gunther, the potential teaser for Aleister Black, and a story snippet for Rey Fenix. The highlight of the evening, however, was the unexpected win by The Street Profits. They triumphed over #DIY for the WWE Tag Team Championship in a thrilling title change.
Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, the two members of the Street Profits, had been vying to reclaim their position at the top of the SmackDown tag team division for a while. Their last experience with championship glory dated back to October 12, 2020, when they were crowned as the Raw tag team champions.
A few months prior, they were all set to challenge The Motor City Machine Guns, only to be ambushed from the back and replaced by #DIY, who consequently won the titles. It was later disclosed that it was none other than Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa from #DIY who had attacked them. The division had been in disarray ever since, with an intense competition unfolding among these three teams as well as Pretty Deadly and Los Garza for the titles. The Street Profits had even intruded on the #DIY vs. Motor City Machine Guns match at the WWE Royal Rumble 2025, expressing discontent at being overlooked.
With the chaos spiraling out of control, SmackDown General, Nick Aldis, arranged a tag title match for The Street Profits in this week’s SmackDown. Dawkins and Ford seized this opportunity, reclaiming their titles back in the main event after Gargano misfired a superkick into Ciampa. The blunder allowed Ford to execute a Frog Splash, leading to a decisive victory.

It’s established that Pretty Deadly will be the next contenders for the titles, having secured a victory in a No. 1 contenders’ Triple Threat match last week. Nevertheless, WWE has yet to specify the date for that match.
