The British tag team, known as The Grizzled Young Veterans, has expressed their dissatisfaction with being referred to as the “British FTR.”
In an exclusive digital interview, the dynamic duo, Zack Gibson and James Drake opened up about the frequent comparisons they are subjected to with Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood, notoriously known as FTR.
A visibly agitated Gibson vented, “Are you joking around? Are you serious? That we’ll never be FTR? You know, we have eighteen years under our belt in this field. When we started claiming titles across Europe, triumphed in Asia, and made a breakthrough into the American wrestling scene, people labeled us as ‘Just like a British FTR.’ ”
He went on to express his frustration over being perpetually compared to FTR. He said, “Do you know what that feels like? To have a camera pointing at your face and being asked about what FTR thinks of us? Are you serious? Can you imagine how it feels when your life’s work is simply juxtaposed against another’s? They are the main reason why I loathe the job that I used to adore. I can’t stand it!”
James Drake chimed in, “When it comes to FTR, let’s put it this way. Once we’re finished with you, they will look at you and say ‘Wow, these guys are so much like an American Grizzled Young Veterans.’ ”
