The Rock doesn’t think he has another title run in him, but he does foresee stepping inside the squared circle one more time… if it makes sense.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke with ComicBook.com while doing press for his new film Red Notice, on Netflix on November 12. The conversation turned to pro wrestling when he was asked if he has another title run in him, and Johnson said that he doesn’t see that happening but would entertain one more match. He then hinted at working with Roman Reigns before praising the current WWE Universal Champion’s work and left the door open to a future match.

“I don’t know if I have another title run, considering I’m the People’s Champion, but I don’t know if it’s another title run. I think possibly there’s another match down the road, but it would have to make sense. It seems like Roman — I’m very close with Roman, obviously, and we talk about this all of the time. I continue to encourage him to keep doing [his] thing, keep sharpening those skills. I think he’s doing a great job with his promo, his execution, his in-ring work, it all continues to improve and grow. And that’s the best part, I think, about that world of professional wrestling, is that when someone gets anointed and given the ball to run, they either score a touchdown with it or they don’t, but then some, not only do they score a touchdown with it but then they begin to change the way the game is played. And in Roman’s case, he’s slowly doing that. You can start to read the tea leaves, and again, I’m very, very proud of him. I like what he’s doing, I like what The Usos are doing, I like what they’re doing together and we’ll see down the road.”

The Rock versus Roman Reigns has been heavily rumored and speculated on for several years, with some reports claiming that it’s a lock to take place at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas in 2022. Despite the talk, The Rock told Andrew Freund in a separate press interview that there’s no truth to that right now, but echoed his comments to ComicBook and said “down the line, we’ll see.”
