WWE superstar The Rock made his re-entry into the wrestling realm on the journey to WWE WrestleMania XL. The mega match saw him team up with Roman Reigns in defeating Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes on the opening night. There are speculations among WWE aficionados that a showdown between The Rock and Cody Rhodes might be the highlight of WrestleMania 41 next year.
In a candid conversation with ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, The Rock expressed his thoughts on his comeback. He remarked,
“I felt like that was a manifestation and a mirror of my inner thoughts because, as we are all aware, in pro wrestling, there’s no second chance. It’s a single night, a single shot, a single opportunity. Preparing for WrestleMania, the training camp, the anxieties, the anticipations, the deliverables, a singular phrase consistently echoed in my mind, ‘I just want to go the distance’. Going the distance meant the realization that we had close to an hour’s plan, which as anyone will tell you, is quite a long duration. I had my own set of challenges to meet… It’s essentially a battle against oneself. I had something to confirm to myself that I can pull it off, put in the hard work and the rigorous training camp, and trust my partners in the ring – Cody, Seth, and Roman – the same way they trusted me. But yes, all I wanted was to go the distance.”
He further elucidated, “We’re on the verge of orchestrating the most staggering WrestleMania ever and the most phenomenal match at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. In typical ‘Final Boss’ style, I’ll just hint at what’s to come.”
