The Rock is set to reunite with Emily Blunt on a new superhero movie called “Ball And Chain.”
According to Variety, the duo will team up on the project after they completed work on their “Jungle Cruise” movie with Disney. ‘Ball and Chain’ is currently being shopped among a number of studios including Netflix, but no distribution deal has closed at this time. The film is an adaptation of the ’90s comic of the same name by Scott Lobdell, following a superpowered married couple going through relationship problems, with the catch being that their abilities only work properly when they’re together.
Johnson and Blunt will also serve as producers on the film along with Dany and Hiram Garcia under the Seven Bucks Production name and Kevin Misher.
Jungle Cruise was originally set for release on July 24 but it was pushed back to July 30, 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic and its effect on movie theatre closures.
Johnson will next be seen in Netflix’s “Red Notice” with Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, while Blunt’s “A Quiet Place Part II” now has a September 4 release date. In addition, The Rock just announced the return of NBC’s The Titan Games on May 25, with All Elite Wrestling personality Dasha Gonzalez (formerly Dasha Fuentes in WWE) set to compete on the second season of the show.
