Daniel Garcia, one of AEW’s notable wrestlers, has been missing from the AEW television since an altercation on Dynamite earlier this month. MJF was seen turning on Garcia who just lost to Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship.
It was reported by Ibou of WrestlePurists, that Garcia’s exit was scripted in a manner that protects AEW’s interests should he decide not to sign a new contract and return.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio disclosed in the most recent episode that Daniel Garcia hadn’t inked a new contract with AEW as of earlier this month. This information was confirmed by Bryan Alvarez aligning with the WrestlePurists report.
During the show, Meltzer commented, “When they did the angle, he had not signed a new contract. I had asked around, and it wasn’t like people thought he was leaving. But I don’t know. Do you know more?”
Alvarez contributed, “What I know is when they did that angle, they were aware that he may not be back. So the angle was done in case he doesn’t come back. If he does come back, they have a storyline feud with MJF. I know he had been thinking about it, or he had told people he had been thinking about what he was going to do, which he should do…I don’t think it’s 100 percent that he’s coming back, I will say that, but I don’t think that he’s re-signed or decided to leave yet. That was one of the reasons why he was taken out in that storyline.”
It’s worth mentioning that WWE was interested in acquiring Garcia’s services back in 2021, however, he decided on joining AEW.
