The Potential for CM Punk’s Return to Exceed His Initial WWE Run, According to Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff believes that CM Punk’s second run with WWE could surpass his first if the former AEW World Champion takes things seriously.

Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames last week, close to a decade after walking out of the promotion following the Royal Rumble 2014 pay-per-view event.

On a recent edition of his “Strictly Business” podcast, Bischoff addressed CM Punk’s return to WWE after years away. He said,

“I’m pretty sure Punk is going to…provided he wants to, motivation is the core of this, right? If Punk woke up and said, ‘Look, I want to have one more really, really good run,’ and if he’s willing to be a team player, I think he’s going to be very successful in WWE.

“He’s not going to be able to get away with the same kind of silliness, nor will he be exposed to the same kind of backstage environment that he was exposed to in AEW. He’s going to have to learn to deal with a more corporate, structured environment.

“If he’s willing, if his intentions are such that he really wants to make this work and be a team player, I think his second run will be better than his first in WWE.”

Punk’s first WWE run saw him become a five-time World Champion, ECW Champion, Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion, and two-time Money in the Bank winner.

CM Punk appeared on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. He has also been confirmed for next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown on FOX.

CM Punk’s return to WWE has been met with excitement and speculation from fans and industry insiders alike. One person who has weighed in on the matter is Eric Bischoff, a former executive in both WWE and WCW. Bischoff believes that if Punk takes his return seriously, it could surpass his first run with the company.

Punk made his highly anticipated return to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames, marking his first appearance in the promotion in nearly a decade. His departure from WWE in 2014 after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event left fans wondering if they would ever see him in a WWE ring again.

During a recent episode of his “Strictly Business” podcast, Bischoff discussed Punk’s return and what it could mean for his future in WWE. Bischoff emphasized the importance of motivation and being a team player in order for Punk to be successful in the company.

Bischoff stated, “If Punk woke up and said, ‘Look, I want to have one more really, really good run,’ and if he’s willing to be a team player, I think he’s going to be very successful in WWE.”

However, Bischoff also noted that Punk will have to adjust to a different backstage environment in WWE compared to his time in AEW. WWE operates in a more corporate and structured manner, which may require Punk to adapt his approach.

“He’s not going to be able to get away with the same kind of silliness, nor will he be exposed to the same kind of backstage environment that he was exposed to in AEW,” Bischoff explained. “He’s going to have to learn to deal with a more corporate, structured environment.”

Despite these challenges, Bischoff believes that if Punk is committed and willing to work as part of a team, his second run with WWE could surpass his first. Punk’s initial tenure with the company saw him achieve great success, becoming a five-time World Champion, ECW Champion, Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion, and two-time Money in the Bank winner.

Since his return, Punk has made appearances on both Monday Night RAW and WWE SmackDown on FOX, further fueling speculation about his future plans and potential feuds.

As fans eagerly await Punk’s next moves in WWE, it remains to be seen how his second run will unfold. However, with the endorsement of someone like Eric Bischoff, who has extensive experience in the wrestling industry, there is optimism that Punk’s return could lead to even greater accomplishments in WWE.
