In a recent appearance on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast, Ricardo Rodriguez shared an inside scoop about Dolph Ziggler’s triumphant Money in the Bank cash-in in 2013. According to Rodriguez, the original plan was for Ziggler to cash in on WrestleMania 29. However, plan changed and this historic moment happened a day after.
“For me, that’s the peak. It was breathtaking,” Rodriguez said. He went on to elaborate, “The initial plan was to cash in on the night of WrestleMania, but it got moved to the next day. Looking back, I think it was better that way. It was more surprising. And when they were rehearsing the match, Dolph’s kick out was a thrilling moment. Then Alberto reacted with an Enzugiri, finally applying the arm bar. And when Dolph, who has been betrayed so many times, finally hit the Zig Zag, the sudden outburst of cheers from the audience was something remarkable. I believe everyone was genuinely pleased for Dolph.”
At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes emerged as the victor against Roman Reigns, winning the coveted Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
In a separate conversation on the “SI Media Podcast,” Reigns was asked if he and Rhodes had a heartfelt moment following their showdown. His response was succinct. “Not at all. There’s no need for that. If someone chooses to hang around in the limelight for four hours, that’s their choice, but I won’t wait around after we’ve finished what we set out to do. We’re both aware of what transpired out there, and being considerate to each other post-match is unnecessary. Putting ourselves on the line together is appreciation enough.”
