The Miz Cashes In, Wins WWE Championship At Elimination Chamber

Against all odds, Drew McIntyre retained the WWE Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber. But his victory was short-lived because The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and pinned McIntyre to win the title.
McIntyre successfully defended the WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber Match against Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, and Kofi Kingston.
Long-time rivals Orton and Hardy began the match. “The Viper” quickly gained the upper hand. Hardy fought back, but Orton continued to control the match. “The Charismatic Enigma” rallied, but McIntyre entered the match and immediately attacked both men. He used the steel wall to punish Orton.

“The Viper” continued to control the match, but Kingston rolled him up to eliminate him. Orton then dished out RKOs before he left the chamber. Omos ripped Styles’ pod wall off, and Styles walked in the front of the chamber before he was scheduled to enter. WWE official Adam Pearce then banned Omos from ringside.

Kingston nearly pinned McIntyre with an S.O.S., and Styles gained the upper hand. A few minutes later, McIntyre suplexed Kingston into the wall of the chamber. Sheamus entered the match and squared off with his bitter enemy, McIntyre. Both heavyweights traded blows, and McIntyre clotheslined Sheamus over the ropes.

Kingston wowed the fans with a dive onto his fellow competitors. All four men were down after a Hardy and Styles assisted a Superplex from McIntyre to Sheamus. Kingston then dove off a pod to take everyone out. But Sheamus eliminated him with a Brogue Kick.

Hardy dished out Twists of Fate to all three remaining competitors. He hit a Whisper in the Wind onto Sheamus and McIntyre, but the champion eliminated him with a Claymore.

Sheamus dropped McIntyre with a knee to the face. McIntyre kicked out of two springboard dives from Styles, including a 450 Splash. Sheamus blasted McIntyre with a Brogue Kick, but Styles immediately pinned “The Celtic Warrior” with a Phenomenal Forearm. Ultimately, McIntyre countered a Phenomenal Forearm with a Claymore Kick in mid-air.
After the match, Bobby Lashley brutally attacked McIntyre. He assualted him around the ringside area. He put McIntyre in the Hurt Lock and slammed him to the mat. The Miz then came to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank case. Miz then hit the Skull Crushing Finale to win the WWE Championship.

This is Miz’s second reign as WWE Champion. He ends McIntyre’s second title reign at 97 days. Miz’s first reign was also the result of a MITB cash-in and that one lasted 160 days from November 22, 2010 – May 1, 2011.
