During a recent episode of “WrestleRant Radio,” The Miz spoke candidly about his wrestling experience as he navigates through his new babyface character. He admitted to a preference for playing the villain and showing the audiences a character they love to hate.
The Miz, who currently teams up with R-Truth in the tag team division, has been in the unfamiliar territory of receiving the crowd’s cheers.
He expressed, “No, I’m not used to it at all. People are like, what would you rather be? It’s like, I love being hated. Many villains don’t enjoy being loathed. They’ll visit Twitter or Instagram and skim through the comments to see if they’re like, ‘oh, I don’t like him, but man, is he cool’. Or ‘I dislike him, but wow, his moves are impressive’. I certainly do not like that. I strive to make people loathe me to the point they can’t tolerate me. That indicates that I am performing my role extremely well.”
Furthering his discussion on his career evolution, The Miz added, “However, after nearly two decades of portraying the villain, you suddenly find yourself allied with R-Truth and you’re inevitably adored because no one in WWE is as adored as R-Truth. Often, people conjecture that I’m underrated. I genuinely doubt people comprehend how underappreciated R-Truth truly is as a performer. He’s stayed longer than anyone else, consistently adapting, and regularly producing phenomenal content. He has this rare talent of being treated seriously, yet displaying humor simultaneously. It’s a challenging feat. Comedy often results in being perceived as a fool, but Truth reliably strikes a balance. I find it genuinely delightful sharing these experiences with him.”
The teamwork of The Miz and R-Truth came to a halt when they conceded the WWE World Tag Team Championships to Finn Balor and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day in a WWE RAW event last month.
