John Cena surprised everyone at the 2024 WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view event with the announcement of his impending retirement from professional wrestling next year, 2025.
The declared plan from Cena is to participate in 30-40 matches in the following year as part of his final goodbye tour.
Among the many WWE Superstars nurtured by Cena, The Miz is eager for one final confrontation with The Champ.
In a recent conversation with “Sports Illustrated,” The Miz opened up about Cena’s approaching farewell tour, their shared WWE history, and more.
Speaking about that moment, The Miz confessed, “When I heard him say he was retiring at the end of next year, I had mixed emotions. I’m proud that I’ve been able to share the ring with him and learn from him. I’m still using what I’ve learned from him in and out of the ring. I’m also sad. This is it.”
The Miz continued, “Being in the ring with him is unlike anything else. He’s the greatest of all time. I would love one more moment with him. We were rivals for so long, and just this past WrestleMania, the day after, I’m tagging with John Cena doing the ‘You can’t see me’ and giving AA’s to people. I never thought I’d ever do that. It’s interesting to be a good guy now. I’m not used to it, I’m not comfortable with people cheering me, but I’m embracing it.”
Cena and The Miz have had numerous encounters throughout their careers. Their competitions stand out in the main event of WWE WrestleMania 27 and the memorable mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 33.
