AEW superstar Ricky Starks is set to continue his tenure with the company a little longer.
Discussions surrounding Ricky Starks’ position in AEW have been ongoing, considering he hasn’t been featured since March. However, the ex-TNT Champion is in prime shape and prepared to return to the ring.
Starks made a surprise appearance at AEW Full Gear 2024 last Saturday evening, following his unforeseen appearance at the GCW event housed at The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He was seen in the backstage area.
Starks, during a recent guest appearance on the podcast “Insight,” shed light on his current standing at AEW. Mentioning he was uncertain about why he hasn’t been called upon to perform, referring to the situation as a “mindf**k.” Yet, he doesn’t entertain the thought that he’s being detrimentally affected.
Fightful Select disclosed that AEW decided to trigger an option year within Starks’ contract in the spring of 2024. This implies that Starks’ contract will now be effective till the spring or summer of 2025.
Insiders indicate that Starks had been weighing up the possibilities of testing the open market before the extension of his contract.
WWE has shown interest in Starks and it is speculated that he may make a move there once he has completed his contractual obligations with AEW.
