The Latest On Vince McMahon-Janel Grant Lawsuit, Stephanie Vaquer & Ignacio Bahamondes Link Up

The legal representatives of Janel Grant have made a formal request to shift her case against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE to the discovery stage. The defendants, however, are resisting this move, suggesting the case should comply with the nondisclosure agreement and proceed to private arbitration.

The final decision on whether discovery can commence prior to a ruling on arbitration will be made by Judge Sarah F. Russell.

According to a report from Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling:

“The case papers reveal that the plaintiff might require documents related to any subsidiary, current or former executives, employees, contractors, agents, and others linked to WWE, TKO, and/or Endeavor Group Holdings. Grant’s filing makes it clear that she is in pursuit of papers connected to McMahon’s financial transactions with several women and is also keen on getting insights into WWE’s sexual harassment policies.

Moreover, Grant’s legal team is seeking travel records for McMahon, Laurinaitis, and ex-fighter, Brock Lesnar.

The lawsuit accuses McMahon and Laurinaitis of sexual assault on Grant, while also charging them with trafficking. She further claims that her sexual services were offered to Lesnar during the renegotiation of his WWE contract.

The defendants reason that initiating the discovery at this stage may lead to squandering of resources if the court later resolves to arbitrate the case. An email exhibited in the recent court filing from a Paul Weiss attorney representing WWE, suggests that Connecticut federal court rules permit discovery to be held back until the judge decides the case’s future course – court or arbitration.”

Kendra Barkoff-Lamy, a representative for Grant, issued the subsequent statement:

“The valiant perseverance of Janel Grant serves as a motivation to many. Her move today aims to expedite her fight for justice and holding Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE accountable for the horrific sex trafficking and abuse she endured.”
