Lex Luger, a wrestling legend, has been chosen for induction into the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame. He has expressed his desire to have Sting from AEW present the award to him.
Previously, it was reported that the WWE has plans in place to approach Sting about the potential honor, if they have not already done so.
Luger’s request for Sting to give the induction speech has been confirmed by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. According to the report, the WWE expressed no issue with this request. As it currently stands, the decision remains in the hands of AEW CEO, Tony Khan.
Khan is expected to respect Sting’s wish, but a negotiation may take place beforehand. There is a precedent for AEW wrestlers to make appearances on WWE shows.
However, an exception was noted in the case of a DX reunion involving Billy Gunn. Khan requested the WWE announce Gunn’s current association with AEW, however, when this did not occur, Gunn did not make an appearance.
It is also important to remember that during Sting’s final wrestling match at AEW Revolution 2024, Luger was not allowed on-screen time.
Given these precedents and possible complications, the decision as to who inducts Lex Luger into the WWE Hall of Fame 2025 remains up in the air.
