Drew McIntyre’s current heel persona has been heavily inspired by two-time WWE Hall of Famer Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart, it has been claimed.
In recent weeks, McIntyre has shown more of an edge and has refused to help faces fight off heels, saying he is tired of other people relying on him to help with their problems.
In the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter” it is reported that Hart’s heel turn in 1997 has helped inspire McIntyre’s new demeanor.
“If you watch the McIntyre turn as a heel who is logically right but people don’t like it because of that and think Bret Hart 1997 in the U.S., it’s because that is part of the inspiration of the character.”
Hart’s 1997 heel turn saw the Hitman complain about the fans turning on him and supporting his nemesis, the popular ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.
This heel turn turned into the Canada Vs. USA feud in which Hart argued that the morals and attitudes of the U.S. were lacking compared to those of the Great White North.
McIntyre will challenge WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins at WWE Crown Jewel on November 4.

Drew McIntyre’s Heel Persona Inspired by Bret Hart
Drew McIntyre, the current WWE superstar, has recently adopted a new heel persona that has drawn inspiration from the legendary wrestler Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart. McIntyre’s character has taken a darker turn, showing a more aggressive and self-centered attitude.
In recent weeks, McIntyre has refused to assist other wrestlers in their fights against villains, claiming that he is tired of being relied upon to solve their problems. This change in his character has caught the attention of fans and critics alike.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McIntyre’s heel turn has been influenced by Bret Hart’s own transformation in 1997. Hart, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, turned heel during this period and expressed his frustration with the fans who had turned against him and started supporting his rival, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.
Hart’s heel turn led to a Canada Vs. USA feud, where he argued that the morals and attitudes of the United States were inferior to those of his home country, Canada. McIntyre’s new demeanor seems to be drawing inspiration from this storyline, as he portrays a character who believes he is logically right but is disliked by the fans because of it.
The upcoming WWE Crown Jewel event on November 4 will see McIntyre challenging Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This match will be a test for McIntyre’s new heel persona and will determine if he can successfully establish himself as a top villain in the company.
