Rey Mysterio underwent surgery in Birmingham, Alabama yesterday to repair a torn meniscus. The WWE Hall of Famer is currently there as he was spotted earlier today.
Pwinsider is reporting that the injury did not cause the heel turn from Santos Escobar on WWE SmackDown. That heel turn had always been planned.
If Mysterio didn’t get hurt, Rey vs. Escobar would be happening on live events immediately.
Meanwhile, people backstage have praised the performance of Zelina Vega following Escobar’s heel turn on WWE SmackDown.
It is to be noted that Vega has acting experience from her time before WWE.
