Despite reaching the zenith of his WWE career, the professional wrestling legacy of Cody Rhodes, monikered the American Nightmare, goes beyond his own success.
Rhodes follows in the footsteps of his father, Dusty Rhodes, making him a second-generation professional wrestler. His half-brother, Dustin, still competes in the AEW/ROH circuit.
During a recent discussion with Sports Illustrated, Cody opened up about his family’s wrestling heritage and what the future holds. He expressed,
“Behind the scenes are my nephews, Dalton and Dylan, who share a close bond with Dustin. It’s interesting to watch them grow from playful kids to potential wrestlers. For now, they are students at the University of Texas and my mother wishes for them to complete their education. However, I can’t wait to see what decisions they make. They aren’t ready to take on Jacob Fatu yet, but they’ll get there in time.”
“It isn’t about me, it’s about our wrestling lineage continuing to thrive. Our bloodline will prevail.”
Cody Rhodes is gearing up for his next high-profile match scheduled for August 31, where he will be defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Kevin Owens at the eagerly anticipated Bash in Berlin.
The event marks WWE’s debut pay-per-view in Germany. Alongside this, a match between World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER and Randy Orton has also been announced.
Bash in Berlin is already causing a stir, as evident from the highlights of “Cody Rhodes granting Kevin Owens a match at WWE Bash in Berlin” aired on SmackDown on August 9, 2024.[embedded content]
