The Fiend Defeats Daniel Bryan In Brutal Strap Match, Retains Universal Championship

At WWE Royal Rumble,”The Fiend” Bray Wyatt defended the WWE Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan in a Strap Match. The two stars have been locked in a heated, violent feud for several weeks. Bryan took the fight to The Fiend early on but a powerbomb floored the challenger. The Fiend whipped Bryan with the strap. Bryan tried diving onto The Fiend, who caught him and threw him into the barricade. The Fiend continued to repeatedly whip Bryan with the strap. Bryan reversed Sister Abigail, rocked The Fiend with a kick and got a near fall after a running knee.

Bryan dove onto The Fiend outside the ring but the champion threw him into the steel steps. The challenger hit a running knee off the apron but The Fiend drilled Bryan with a clothesline. Bryan kicked The Fiend below the belt a few times and hit him with a DDT onto an announce table. Bryan whipped The Fiend with the strap.

A series of kicks and lashes rocked The Fiend. But a Sister Abigail out of nowhere earned the champion a near fall. The Fiend locked in the Mandible Claw but Bryan countered it into the Lebell Lock. He used the strap for extra punishment but The Fiend fought out of it. Bryan countered Sister Abigail into a roll-up and hit a running knee for a near fall. The Fiend locked in the Mandible Claw and slammed Bryan to pin him for the three count. After the match, medical officials checked on Bryan and helped him to the back after Bryan collapsed.
