Damian Priest is working hard to keep the Undisputed WWE Tag Titles important, something he feels was not the case for some time.

On a recent episode of the “Inside the Ropes” podcast, Priest spoke about the tag team titles and when he feels they started being relevant again. He said,

“I think it goes without saying that unfortunately, there was a time where the tag team titles fell off a little bit and they weren’t as important as they should be. Then, obviously, the focus came back. WrestleMania [39 night one] main event, tag team titles – that’s a wild one. No one could have predicted that the [WWE] Tag Team Championships would be the main event of one of the nights in WrestleMania.

“So that tells you everything you need to know as far as where they are now as far as importance … [Finn Balor and I] are carrying that tradition of making sure that the titles stay important, and we take pride in that. We don’t want the titles to fall off again. I don’t think anybody does.

“You can tell by how many people want the tag team championships. It’s not just tag teams, it’s individual big stars that want to team up with somebody to take the titles from us. I think that’s awesome.”

Priest is in his second reign as an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion and his most recent reign with Finn Balor began on the October 16, 2023 edition of RAW.

Balor and Priest will put the titles on the line against British Strong Style (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) at WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event in Perth, Australia.

Damian Priest is determined to keep the Undisputed WWE Tag Titles relevant and important, a task he believes was neglected for some time. In a recent interview on the “Inside the Ropes” podcast, Priest discussed the significance of the tag team titles and when he believes they regained their importance.

According to Priest, there was a period where the tag team titles lost their significance and were not given the attention they deserved. However, the focus eventually shifted back to them. Priest highlighted the unexpected main event status of the tag team titles at WrestleMania 39 night one as a turning point. He stated that no one could have predicted such a scenario, emphasizing the newfound importance of the championships.

Priest and his tag team partner, Finn Balor, are dedicated to upholding the tradition of keeping the titles relevant. They take pride in their role and are determined not to let the titles fall into obscurity again. Priest believes that many individuals, including prominent solo stars, are interested in teaming up to challenge for the tag team championships. This level of competition and interest further emphasizes the importance and prestige of the titles.

Currently in his second reign as an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion, Priest and Balor won the titles on the October 16, 2023 edition of RAW. Their next challenge will come at WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event in Perth, Australia, where they will defend their titles against British Strong Style, represented by Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate.

Their efforts ensure that the championships remain a focal point within the WWE landscape, attracting both tag teams and individual stars who aspire to hold the prestigious titles. As fans eagerly await their upcoming title defense at Elimination Chamber, it is clear that Priest and Balor’s commitment to maintaining the importance of the tag team titles will continue to captivate audiences and elevate the division to new heights.
