The forthcoming Netflix series focused on Vince McMahon, the former WWE Chairman, has gone through a metamorphosis due to the accusations leveled against him, according to the director of the series, Mr McMahon.
As we previously disclosed last Thursday on eWn, Netflix has formally established that Mr. McMahon will debut on the platform on September 25th. The series’ director is Chris Smith, best known for his work on Tiger King. The series chronicles events dating back to 2020.
Significantly, McMahon has had a turbulent ride since 2020 following his departure from WWE under a cloud of sexual misconduct allegations.
Smith addressed this during a conversation on Netflix’s “Tudum” blog, underscoring how the accusations against McMahon influenced the evolution of the series’ narrative. In his words,
“The intention of the show is to peel back the layers and unveil the real Vince McMahon hidden beneath the persona he projected to the world. Over four years of production, the narrative has transformed in unimaginable ways, marked by startling allegations. The end result we believe, is an illuminating documentation, presenting a detailed and multifaceted picture of the man and the intricate legacy he’s left behind.”
Netflix further revealed that the series will include “over 200 hours of interviews with McMahon himself before he stepped down, his family members, professional associates, legendary figures in wrestling history, and the journalists who exposed McMahon’s allegations.”
