Janel’s Grant’s legal action against wrestling mogul Vince McMahon has taken another turn, as McMahon’s move to facilitate the mandated delay by the court has been rebuffed.

Last month, it was disclosed on eWn that McMahon had put forth a motion once Grant instigated an information-seeking appeal for documents against Dr. Carlon Colker and his medical centre, Peak Wellness, Inc. Grant insists she was referred to the clinic by McMahon in late 2019, and she alleges to have received various undisclosed treatments, including oral medication and intravenous drips.

This Tuesday, Judge Jeffrey Meyer ruled unfavorably for McMahon’s motion. The resolution comes in the form of the ensuing text:

NOTICE DECLINING MOTION TO IMPOSE THE COURT’S STAY COMMAND (Doc. # 77). Defendant McMahon has put forth a motion to facilitate the Court’s stay order, and the Court has received and perused multiple classified submissions regarding the motion. This motion originates from an initiative for discovery by plaintiff Grant in Connecticut state court against distinct unrelated parties to this case. The Court does not interpret its initiation of the stay order to be relevant to state court proceedings that exceed the span of discovery outlined by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure regulating the conduct of discovery in federal court lawsuits. Federal district courts do not typically dictate or oversee proceedings in state courts, and the Court’s stay order did not seek to extend to any state court proceedings. If there is any dispute regarding state court proceedings, redress should be sought in state court rather than in this Court. Hence, the Court DENIES defendant McMahon’s motion to enforce the Court’s stay order due to a lack of evidence of a violation of the Court’s stay order. The order is signed by Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer on 8/6/2024. (Lewis, D) (Entered: 08/06/2024)
