The Bella Twins were recent guests on Kevin Hart’s show “Cold As Balls” show, and the former WWE stars talked about getting their start as athletes when they were young with soccer before moving into the world of professional wrestling. The twins said their grandfather didn’t want them to be wrestlers, but it’s something they still had a passion for after he had passed away and revealed how they came up with their ring names. Before they were the Bellas, they came up with “Nicole Fo Show” and “Brie-zy for Sheezy”, which Hart agreed would’ve been a bad choice.
Nikki and Brie also spoke about their past experiences with cattiness backstage with WWE’s women competing for TV time, noting how there would be 20 girls competing for one spot and a few minutes of ring time.
“Girls were getting jealous of each other,” Brie said, “and you’d see the cat claws come out.” Nikki added, “We realized when all of the girls got on the same page, we created this women’s evolution there. When we band together we can literally break barriers.”
Hart talked about things turning a corner and seeing Ronda Rousey find success, noting she main evented WrestleMania and asked what the feeling was from the Bellas.
“It was amazing to see all of your hard work open up the doors for the women to actually main event,” Brie said.
“Before that, Vince called me and he’s like ‘I want to do this all-women’s pay-per-view and you’re someone that I want to main event.” Nikki explained. “I want you to go against Ronda Rousey. It was the first time I ever got to be a headliner and be this main event, which was so amazing. It gave everyone credibility, like ‘hey the women can do this.’”
New episodes of “Cold As Balls” are scheduled to air each Tuesday on Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud YouTube channel. Upcoming guests include Olympic athlete Lolo Jones and NBA Cavs star JR Smith.
