On a recent episode of the “Women Wrestling Talk” podcast with TK Trinidad, WWE superstars Nikki Bella and Brie Bella shared their thoughts on John Cena’s much anticipated villain transformation at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025. Delighted by this turn of events, Brie enthused,
“Finally, it’s arrived. I am thrilled considering this is his farewell year, and I wasn’t certain if he would explore that side of his character. But the way it was executed was perfection.”
Nikki Bella, Cena’s former fiancée from 2017 to 2018, added her thoughts, saying,
“It was flawlessly executed. How brilliant to end your retirement tour by stepping into a character that the audience has been desiring for ages. I believe he will enjoy this new role, and it’s an incredible gift to the fans. I think it’s simply impressive, it was excellent.”
Matt Hardy, another wrestling veteran, also joined the conversation about Cena’s dramatic character switch at WWE Elimination Chamber, where Cena surprisingly stepped away from Cody Rhodes to team up with The Rock. Praising Cena’s decision, he suggested it will positively impact WWE’s business. He said,
“I found it to be terrific, a smart move that will be good for the business. John was extremely generous to make this shift, and considering everything, I think he must be excited about it. That moment when he pulls in for a hug, then changes his facial expression as The Rock watches, that was truly cinematic. This executed perfectly and will boost WWE’s business in the run-up to WrestleMania.”
He further explained, “If it is indeed his final year in the ring, which it appears to be, he would want to leave indelible memories for wrestling fans. A heel turn would indeed be on his bucket list as a fresh and unprecedented move. As Ric Flair often said, the most talented pro-wrestlers can swing between being a crowd favorite and a reviled villain. I think John will take immense pride in this heel turn, working hard to become the antithesis of his hustle, loyalty, and respect persona. He would aim to do everything he can to incite hatred from the fans.”
