During the latest episode of WWE RAW on Monday, wrestling duo The Awesome Truth were unable to maintain their hold on the WWE World Tag Team Championships. The titles were seized by opponents Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, following a strategic interference by Liv Morgan.
Post-show, WWE rolled out a “Digital Exclusive” where The Awesome Truth reflected on their championship loss and speculated about what was next. Highlighted below are key moments from the “Digital Exclusive”:
The Miz revealed his thoughts when Truth mentioned that he had “made a mistake”. In response, The Miz claimed, “Absolutely, you did. I’ve told you time and time again, World Tag Team Championship matches aren’t handed out to just any team. Earning this right is mandatory. The rationale behind this is to maintain its prestige, its honor. It can’t be casually tossed away, especially to teams you don’t respect, like the Judgment Day.”
R-Truth, not dissuaded by the loss, confirmed his determination to reclaim the titles: “You’re acting as if it’s the end. However, this run isn’t over yet. This was just a stumbling block… That’s all. We’re The Awesome Dogs. Will we let this stop us? Not likely. They hold something that is ours. I’ve never been fond of them. Well, it’s time to reclaim what’s rightfully ours.”
The Miz, understandably disappointed, reflected on not being able to defend the titles at the much-anticipated SummerSlam event. “SummerSlam, being hosted in Cleveland, my hometown is a matter of pride. Do I think we’ll return to the Cleveland Browns Stadium? Probably not. This could have been my only shot, my one opportunity to compete at the place where I spent my formative years as a child. And I had hoped we would make our mark as tag team champions. But now, we’re title-less.”
Despite The Miz’s disappointment, R-Truth suggested focusing on retaking the titles at the show: “However, imagine regaining the WWE World Tag Team Championship in your hometown? You can replicate my WrestleMania moment. We could share that kind of winning moment. The Awesome Truth is, we’re all about creating these moments. So let’s continue making more. Our next stop is Cleveland, Ohio – your home turf.”
