In a recent conversation with Sportskeeda Wrestling, the highly respected WWE Hall of Famer, Teddy Long, offered his thoughts on the possible future duel between Swerve Strickland and MJF battling for the AEW World Championship title.
Here are some noteworthy points from the discussion:
On the topic of an MJF vs. Swerve Strickland rivalry, Long stated, “Unquestionably, they’re heading in that direction. (MJF vs. Swerve rivalry). Not to put down MJF, I respect him. He’s a commendable individual. He is one of those exceptional ones… he’s a seasoned wrestler, on top of being an entertainer. That works out exceptionally well for him. He doesn’t require a manager or a spokesperson; he’s perfectly capable of holding his ground, which is splendid.”
On the subject of increasing Swerve Strickland’s television exposure, Long said, “And if I had to make a choice, MJF would be the most fitting contender since he has the capacity to take on the responsibility. However, you’ve selected a champion, you should ensure he gets the appropriate TV coverage.”
The current plan is for Strickland to take on Will Ospreay at the impending AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024, later this month, where the AEW World Title will be up for grabs.
