Was Cody Rhodes’ defeat at WrestleMania 39 the right call? Teddy Long certainly believes so.

At WrestleMania 39: Night Two, Rhodes was unable to ‘finish the story‘ and came up short against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

The result (which saw outside interference by Solo Sikoa) has been met with criticism from fans, as many believe WrestleMania was Cody’s ‘time.’

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s “Wrestle Binge” podcast Long shared why he feels WWE made the right call. He said,

“We talked about it before. Cody [Rhodes] winning was too soon. I told you that already. But other than that, I think they had a hell of a match. But like I said, Cody is just back now; he’s fresh, so there’s a lot of money to be made with him and lots of stories that could be told down the line. So I think they made the right call.”

On the post-WrestleMania edition of RAW, Rhodes was attacked by Brock Lesnar and a match between the two is expected at WWE Backlash.
