On a recent episode of his engaging “Everybody’s Got a Pod” podcast, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Fame inductee Ted DiBiase Sr. disclosed details about the most unfortunate mishap he’s ever experienced in his professional wrestling tenure.
Mirror the highlights from the podcast as listed below:
Talking about his most regrettable accidental hit during his career, DiBiase stated, “It wasn’t a hit that someone else delivered on me. Rather, I brought it upon myself. I placed my opponent in the corner, launching an assault on him. And then, I subjected him to a turnbuckle and charged in afterward, hitting him squarely in the stomach with my shoulder… I anticipated his dodge and despite intending to hit the post with my shoulder and not my face, I ended up chipping my front tooth against the post. That incident was so perplexing, I was stupefied, wondering, ‘What happened to my tooth?’ [laughs] I had apparently knocked it out myself. It certainly was a crazy experience… Even now, I can’t fully comprehend how it ended up that way. Clearly, I was too close. Although the entire tooth didn’t break off, it did chip, consequently needing removal and replacement, now replaced with a slight bridge.”
Elaborating on the wrestling term ‘receipts’, DiBiase asserted, “Sure, you name it as the receipt. And, you announce, ‘Here’s the receipt!’ followed by a hit. Despite this, I’ve never really felt compelled to annihilate someone with a hit… maybe a few exceptions occurred — with someone who was there in the match to promote me. These were typically newcomers with little experience, whom I accidentally hit harder than necessary. All those guys, indeed received a receipt.”
