In a recent episode of his podcast, “Everybody’s Got a Pod,” WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase Sr. spoke about various subjects including Mike Sharpe’s unusual habit of taking lengthy showers after his matches, how he first came up with his signature fist drop, and more.

Below are some key takeaways from the podcast discussion:

Discussing the origin of his trademark fist drop, he expounded, “It honestly happened quite inadvertently. It felt like one of those spontaneous moments where I thought I could try an elbow drop, something a lot of competitors usually did. I was just in the ring, involved in the action when suddenly — it was almost accidental. I remember just backdrop the opponent and while he was laying there, I decided to leap and come down with my fist. To my surprise, it seemed to work really well. Once, I attempted the fist drop from the second rope, but that was something I didn’t want to repeat. [laughs]”

On the topic of Mike Sharpe’s unusual habit of taking prolonged showers, DiBiase elaborated, “Mike was quite obsessive about cleanliness. It was taken to such an extreme that many a time we would joke, ‘Hey, Mike, are you sure you have enough soap? Here’s another bar.’ I specifically remember him sitting down to dress and meticulously cleaning the soles of his feet before donning his socks. Yes, Mike was a little odd in that respect.”
