During the post-AEW Revolution 2024 media scrum, Sting revealed that he stopped taking steroids following his split from The Ultimate Warrior in 1990.

Sting said, I think it was definitely good that we were both together to begin with because he looked like a freak. I was 265 pounds, and I looked like a little kid compared to him. But both of us together, we were pretty intimidating, and we had a lot of people saying ‘Maybelline Road Warriors.’ But we thought, ‘Who cares? We get a match with the Road Warriors, we hit the big time.’ But I think it was good that we ended up splitting up. It was good that he went his way and I went mine. We were not meant to be together. We were meant to start together, and it got us in the door, for sure. But he needed to be in his own. We were going to kill each other, literally on the road. Two roided out young men. That’s what it was then. Two roided-out guys. Just shooting straight here. That stopped in 1990 for me, so yeah. Didn’t stop for him, but it stopped for him.”

As seen at Sunday night’s AEW Revolution 2024 pay-per-view event, Darby Allin and Sting defeated The Young Bucks to retain the AEW Tag Team Championships. The titles will now be vacated following Sting’s retirement and a tournament will be taking place to crown new champions.

AEW President Tony Khan is still on an emotional high after AEW Revolution 2024, as he lavished praise on Sting’s AEW run, calling it the “greatest comeback in sports history.”

Khan tweeted, “Last night at #AEWRevolution, Sting completed the greatest comeback in sports history. @Sting’s 3 Year Run in AEW from Age 61-64: 30 matches, 30-0 record (29-0 in AEW, 1-0 in NOAH for Great Muta’s Send-Off) + Retired as @AEW World Tag Team Champion in the best last match ever.”

Sting Reveals He Stopped Taking Steroids Following Split from The Ultimate Warrior in 1990

In a recent post-AEW Revolution 2024 media scrum, wrestling legend Sting made a surprising revelation about his past steroid use. He disclosed that he stopped taking steroids after his split from The Ultimate Warrior in 1990.

Sting reminisced about his time with The Ultimate Warrior, saying, “I think it was definitely good that we were both together to begin with because he looked like a freak. I was 265 pounds, and I looked like a little kid compared to him. But both of us together, we were pretty intimidating, and we had a lot of people saying ‘Maybelline Road Warriors.’ But we thought, ‘Who cares? We get a match with the Road Warriors, we hit the big time.'”

However, Sting acknowledged that their partnership had its downsides. He explained, “But I think it was good that we ended up splitting up. It was good that he went his way and I went mine. We were not meant to be together. We were meant to start together, and it got us in the door, for sure. But he needed to be in his own. We were going to kill each other, literally on the road. Two roided out young men. That’s what it was then. Two roided-out guys.”

Sting emphasized that he stopped taking steroids in 1990, while The Ultimate Warrior continued using them. He stated, “Just shooting straight here. That stopped in 1990 for me, so yeah. Didn’t stop for him, but it stopped for him.”

This revelation sheds light on the wrestling industry’s history of steroid use and the toll it can take on performers’ health and relationships. Sting’s decision to stop taking steroids demonstrates his commitment to his well-being and longevity in the sport.

In other news, at the AEW Revolution 2024 pay-per-view event, Sting and Darby Allin successfully defended their AEW Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks. However, following Sting’s retirement, the titles will now be vacated, and a tournament will be held to crown new champions.

AEW President Tony Khan expressed his admiration for Sting’s AEW run, calling it the “greatest comeback in sports history.” Khan took to Twitter to praise Sting, stating, “Last night at #AEWRevolution, Sting completed the greatest comeback in sports history. @Sting’s 3 Year Run in AEW from Age 61-64: 30 matches, 30-0 record (29-0 in AEW, 1-0 in NOAH for Great Muta’s Send-Off) + Retired as @AEW World Tag Team Champion in the best last match ever.”
