AEW President, Tony Khan, has recently expressed his great dismay and bewilderment at the statements made by attorney Stephen P. New concerning WWE Hall of Famer, Jim Ross.
Various reports from eWn have indicated that Stephen P. New is currently providing legal representation for former AEW commentator, Kevin Kelly, and The Tate Twins, also known as The Boys, in a legal battle against All Elite Wrestling.
Jim Ross had voiced his perspective on the lawsuit in his podcast, labeling it as simply “frivolous”.
Responding to Ross’ viewpoint, New, on the “House of Kayfabe” podcast, expressed that Ross was “part of the problem” due to his previous role of signing wrestlers to “subpar contracts” during his tenure as the Head of Talent Relations for WWE.
In his statements, New noted, “Tony Khan has been paying JR a rather significant salary for virtually nothing for approximately five years now. If I was in Jim Ross’ shoes, living at Jacksonville Beach and earning a substantial amount merely for not doing much, I’d probably dismiss Stephen P. New’s lawsuit too. Everyone has their price.”
These comments made by New elicited a reaction from Tony Khan, who read and responded to them.
Taking to Twitter, the president of AEW, expressed, “I’ve just finished reading Stephen P. New’s remarks about @JRsBBQ. I am utterly shocked and dismayed by these comments about Jim Ross, an enduring pillar of AEW, someone who has played an essential role from AEW’s inception and continues to do so today. AEW, JR & I retain all rights. Looking forward to seeing you tonight at #AEWAllOut.”
It has been reported that Jim Ross confirmed a fresh one-year contract with AEW earlier this year.
