Attorney Stephen P. New is representing Kevin Kelly and the Tate Twins in their lawsuit against All Elite Wrestling (AEW), despite criticisms from WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator Jim Ross, who called the lawsuit questionable. New disagreed with Ross’ opinion and urged him to reconsider his stance.
Kelly and the Tate Twins (The Boys) are suing AEW for misclassifying its talent as independent contractors rather than employees. There are also defamation claims against AEW’s Tony Khan by the Tate Twins and by Kelly against Ian Riccaboni. The defamation claims stem from alleged defamatory comments made by Khan and Riccaboni.
Commenting on the lawsuit during an appearance on the “House of Kayfabe” podcast, New discussed the reasons behind Kelly’s defamation claim against Riccaboni and the Tate Twins’ claim against Khan. He also spoke about how the case would be argued in court and his plan to use certain tweets as evidence.
In response to Jim Ross’ claim that the lawsuit is frivolous, New expressed dissatisfaction, saying that Ross is part of the problem because he presented WWE talent with problematic contracts for 25 years.
New is confident about the lawsuit’s strength, declaring that it is not a frivolous lawsuit and he is ready to take the fight to court. AEW has not yet responded to these assertions.
