The final segment of WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto was a major topic in ESPN’s First Take with commentators Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe sharing their respective perspectives.
It was unprecedented at WWE Elimination Chamber that took place in Toronto, as we saw John Cena make a villainous turn for the first time in more than 20 years.
The culmination of the 2025 men’s Elimination Chamber match saw Cena teaming up with The Rock in a brutal attack on Cody after he defied The Final Boss by refusing to trade his soul.
Sharpe articulated, “Man, John Cena should hang his head in shame. He bided all this while to be the bad guy. Hey Cody, it’s you and me versus John Cena and Travis Scott at Summerslam or however they name it. John Cena, you’re in for it. Me and Cody Rhodes will make sure you pay the price. We got a trick for your sly moves. Beware John Cena, you’re going to need a hip replacement for the dirt cheap stunts you’re pulling. And you, Travis Scott, you should be embarrassed of yourself. I detest traitors. I have a score to settle with John Cena.”
Smith remarked, “Well, being the villain does have its perks. And frankly, it doesn’t bother me one bit. By the way, I’m always siding with my buddy, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, no matter what. I loved the way he handled it. I’ll always be team Rock, that’s my guy. If that’s his choice, so be it.”
