Stephanie Vaquer has officially left her positions at both CMLL and NJPW and has subsequently been stripped of her championship titles. She was previously one part of the World Women’s Tag Team Champions duo for CMLL, alongside Zeuxis, as well as holding the position of CMLL World Women’s Champion.

Both CMLL and NJPW released official statements detailing, “We feel it necessary to inform you that Stephanie Vaquer has unexpectedly notified us that she will be withdrawing from her upcoming match at FantasticaMania USA due to personal issues. Effective immediately, she is no longer a part of the talent pool for CMLL and NJPW.”

The reason cited for Vaquer’s withdrawal from both teams is “personal reasons,” according to a report from Fightful Select.

Earlier on Monday, speculation arose around interest from both WWE and AEW in acquiring Vaquer, despite her contractual obligations with CMLL at the time.

Subsequent discussions have taken place between Vaquer and both WWE and AEW, however, no contract has been signed with AEW, nor does it appear that a deal is imminent, even after her participation at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024. Insiders at AEW suspect that Vaquer may be positioned to join WWE.

Interestingly, CMLL has shown a precedent of permitting talent to exit their contracts when significant offers from American organizations are received.
Official tweet from Lucha Libre CMLL (@CMLL_OFICIAL) on July 10, 2024 announced the news of Vaquer’s exit in Spanish.
