In the latter part of 2024, Stephanie Vaquer became associated with WWE, forgoing an opportunity to have a more lucrative contract with AEW, a wrestling company she had previously wrestled for.

Vaquer, in a recent dialogue with “Rock & Pop FM,” attested that Tony Khan and AEW had proposed a more rewarding financial deal.

As Vaquer was in a meeting with WWE’s top brass in Toronto, AEW reached out, hoping to get her to appear for the NXT Heatwave event.

After providing WWE with an insight into what AEW was willing to offer, higher authorities in WWE candidly expressed to her, “We can’t match that, good luck in AEW.”

Vaquer shared the emotional turmoil she experienced when WWE communicated this as with the realization of AEW’s superior offer, she now knew that her ultimate aspiration was to be part of WWE.

She later received a call from Shawn Michaels who advised her that the measure of an offer shouldn’t be the only factor in her decision, but she should lean towards what she loves and what can bring her joy.

Vaquer appreciated Michaels, the leader of WWE NXT for his empathy and understanding. In the following day, she consented to sign the contract with WWE.

Since then, Vaquer has claimed the NXT Women’s North American Championship title and is currently experiencing her inaugural run as WWE NXT Women’s Champion.
