The NXT episode scheduled to air next week on WWE has been recorded in advance, and with full spoilers (you can find them here), we have been alerted to an upcoming title change in the December 23, 2024 episode.
As per feedback from audiences present during the recording, Lexis King fought Charlie Dempsey for the prestigious NXT Heritage Cup in a match that saw William Regal back King, while Dempsey was supported by Wren Sinclair.
During the face-off, Regal persistently hinted at King leveraging some brass knuckles for an edge over Dempsey, but King maintained his ground and declined the idea. In a shocking turn of events, Regal, in annoyance over King’s persistent refusal, accidentally strikes King. Consequently, he loses grip of the brass knuckles, which lands in Dempsey’s hands. The referee misconstrues this and assumes Dempsey using them to knock King unconscious, thus conceding a fall to King who is subsequently awarded the championship!
Twitter user @SparkPlugJr recounts the event succinctly:
“Lexis King with William Regal vs Charley Dempsey with Wren Sinclair for the Heritage Cup…Regal, annoyed that King wouldn’t use the knuckles on Charles, hits him and the knuckles go flying. Charles picks them up and gets implicated for the fallen King. A new champion is crowned in WWE NXT Lowell!”

This situation alludes to Dempsey’s regret about his decision to offer King another opportunity at the cup. It leaves us speculating the possible impact on Dempsey’s bond with his father and makes for an engaging narrative to follow!
