In a recent discussion with Justin Barrasso from Sports Illustrated, Darby Allin, an AEW wrestler, shared his thoughts on various subjects including Sting’s final match at the AEW Revolution 2024, his thoughts on TNT Champion Jack Perry, etc.

Here are some highlights from the conversation:

Regarding his involvement in Sting’s last match, Allin said, “My aim was for Sting’s last match to be a massive hit. In the end, he said ‘That’s one of the top three matches of my career.’ That was the objective. Watching that match is spellbinding. It will forever be a match to remember.”

When asked about his experience of passing through glass, he replied, “Moving through the glass was quite relaxed. But then the referee asked me, ‘Are you alright?’ I had a deep gash on my side. The cut was severe and I was taped up. The stitches and staples kept me intact. It was unpleasant, but it wasn’t painful.”

On his preparations for Blood & Guts, he shared, “I have some interesting ideas. This is my first cage match ever. Although it’s a challenge, I enjoy it. This holds significant value to me. My aim is to carry the company’s banner and to become its spokesperson. AEW provides me with the freedom and opportunity to be myself, both inside and outside the ring. This has helped me keep it real.”

About his thoughts on his peer, Jack Perry, he said, “It’s fascinating to see Jack’s achievement now. The popular saying goes, a professional wrestler should be an intense version of their real selves. In reality, he is ignorant and privileged, so now he can be genuinely himself. However, I feel like this is encouraging his bad behavior. I don’t admire him.”
