Sonny Kiss recently appeared on Wilde On with Taylor Wilde, and the All Elite Wrestling star discussed the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ movement in wrestling and their run with AEW. Here are some highlights:
On being authentic in the ring:
Kiss: “It’s actually kind of a gift and a curse because I’m so used to being authentic all the time that, okay, so I’ll give you guys a little tea. It’s hard for me to get angry about something, it’s very, very rare that I get angry, and when I do get angry, my anger is not dramatic. So sometimes I have issues with turning up the heat and physically getting in there and getting all crazy.”
On being an L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ person in wrestling:
Kiss: “It’s different for an L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ person who’s feminine and gender fluid and gender bending or whatever, just because a lot of times, they feel like they can’t hide that.”
“You have to create a dialogue . The only way to get people to understand is to create a dialogue.”
On the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ movement in wrestling:
Kiss: “It’s a beautiful thing, and just being a part of the movement is just awesome. Like I said, the camaraderie and we definitely have that. So many people coming up right now, it’s a beautiful thing. I’m getting choked up just talking about it.”
“It’s a really, really cool thing just to have all of us like, bam, take this, our dream by storm.”
