Sledge Says His Feud With O’Shay Edwards Needs To End, And It Will: ‘I’m Gonna Put Him Down’

Sledge recently spoke with WrestleZone’s Colin Tessier ahead of his rubber match with O’Shay Edwards this week. The final match between the two will premiere on Ring Of Honor’s YouTube account on Thursday evening.

Sledge and O’Shay Edwards have met on two separate occasions so far, both matches ending in time limit draws. Sledge explained that it’s frustrating that things have progressed the way that they did, but he’s making sure things end with a conclusive finish to Thursday’s match.

“This needs to end. It really does, like one of us needs to lose. It’s just—whether it’s him, whether it’s me, this rivalry we have of seeing who the baddest motherf’er is coming into Ring of Honor, it needs to end. It needs to end,” he explained, “and it will, I’m gonna put him down tomorrow. Absolutely.”

Sledge was asked about what has changed leading into this third match and what he sees as an advantage against Edwards. He said there’s nothing that serves as a clear cut advantage and they match up well, but

“There’s no clear cut advantage and that’s been shown both times that we faced each other. We went to a ten-minute time limit draw and a fifteen-minute time limit draw, and we’re just waiting for one guy to make a mistake. That’s it, bottom line. One of them will make a mistake, whether it’s him or it’s me, one of us is going to make a mistake. And you know what? It’s probably going to be him. All I have to do is catch him with a right hand, and I have to hit him the right way. Everybody goes to sleep when you hit them the right way, I don’t care who you are.”

Sledge talked about his career trajectory and finally getting the chance to be in the spotlight with a premier company, agreeing that things are speeding up very fast.

“Very quickly, and it’s one of those things where you’ve just got to hang on for the ride. I’m in [Pro Wrestling Illustrated] in June, I think it’s out June 4. They did a two-page spread on me—what?!? I didn’t even know that PWI knew who I was. You see the PWI 500 every year and people are like, ‘Oh, I’m ranked 499’ or whatever it is, and now they just did a two-page spread on me and I’m like [taken back]. I’ve got my own shirt with Ring Of Honor,” he noted, “I’ve got a number of things going on and I’m just very blessed, happy with the position that I’m in right now. I just strive for more, put more stuff on my plate and let’s go.”
