WWE heavyweight IYO SKY will cross into ‘forbidden’ ground next month when he competes for Rossy Ogawa’s Marigold Wrestling league.
The announcement came during the Dream Star Fighting event on June 11th. After an intense match between Nanae Takahashi and Utami Hayashishita, SKY made his appearance on a video screen, issuing a challenge to Hayashishita. The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled for Marigold’s ‘Summer Destiny’ event, set to take place at Ryōgoku Sumo Hall on July 13.
IYO SKY has a history with Rossy Ogawa, having previously worked under him during Ogawa’s tenure as the head of STARDOM. It has been rumored that Ogawa was eager to recruit both SKY and Kairi Sane for Marigold events.
This latest partnership between WWE and Marigold exemplifies WWE’s recently adopted approach of collaborating with other wrestling promotions. This is a break from the company’s previous, more isolated strategy.
Giulia, another prominent wrestler, will also enter the world of Marigold from WWE. After making the switch, she is slated to participate in several Marigold events each year.
The official announcement of Utami Hayashishita vs. IYO SKY at Marigold Summer Destiny 2024, taking place at Ryogoku Sumo Hall, was made on Twitter.
