Sky Deutschland No Longer Airing WWE PPVs, Will Add AEW Events To Lineup
Sky Deutschland is ending its partnership with WWE and they will no longer be airing the company’s pay-per-view events starting in April.
According to a statement released by Sky Deutschland (via Oddsmeter.de), the broadcast rights to WWE PPVs were no longer available to them and they also reportedly turned down a new offer for airing RAW and SmackDown. Sky’s current deal with WWE, initially announced in 2016, expires at the end of March.
“The broadcasting rights to the WWE pay-per-view events were no longer part of the tender and were therefore no longer available for Sky Germany. As a result, WWE will no longer be part of Sky Deutschland’s program offering from the end of March.”
WWE will still be available to fans in Germany on free TV through ProSieben Maxx. Sky Deutschland customers, however, will not completely lose access to wrestling programming as the network is adding All Elite Wrestling pay-per-views to their lineup. AEW Dynamite currently runs weekly on Sky and Sky Go, but the company’s pay-per-view will be accessible through their Sky Select service “shortly.”
